Cussonia paniculata subsp. sinuata, commonly called the Mountain Cabbage Tree, is a striking small tree native to South Africa. It is prized for its unique, sculptural form and deeply lobed, leathery grey-green leaves that give a bold, architectural look to any garden.

This subspecies has slightly more wavy (sinuate) leaf margins, giving it an even more dramatic appearance compared to the typical Cussonia paniculata. The tree has a thick, corky trunk that stores water, making it highly drought-tolerant and perfectly suited to dry or low-maintenance landscapes.

Features:

  • Distinctive lobed foliage with a wavy edge

  • Thick, corky trunk with excellent drought resistance

  • Evergreen to semi-deciduous depending on climate

  • Can be grown in the ground or large containers

Care Requirements:

  • Full sun to light shade

  • Well-draining soil is essential

  • Water moderately; reduce watering in winter

  • Protect young plants from frost

The succulent plant housed in the red pot comes in a 130mm diameter container. While the image provides a representative depiction of what you will receive, but may vary slightly because no two succulents are the same.
