Zygo Cactus Livia (Schlumbergera truncata 'Livia')

Zygo Cactus Livia is a flowering jungle cactus prized for its elegant white blooms and attractive segmented stems. It makes a beautiful addition to bright indoor spaces, covered patios, or sheltered outdoor areas where it can be enjoyed during its flowering season. The cultivar 'Livia' is recognised for its large white flowers with soft pink to purple tones as they mature.

Unlike desert cacti, Zygo Cactus is an epiphytic species that naturally grows in the forests of Brazil. Its flattened green stems form a gently arching habit, making it well suited to decorative pots, shelves, or hanging baskets. The seasonal flowers provide a colourful display during the cooler months in Australia. It is generally considered an easy-care plant when grown in bright, indirect light with a free-draining potting mix.

Want your succulent with a pot?

This plant is available in 100 mm and 130 mm nursery pots, so those sizes are a good guide if you're choosing a decorative pot for your home. We usually ship plants bare root for freshness and to help keep delivery costs down, but we're happy to pot your plant on request.

Care

Light

Grow in bright, indirect light or gentle morning sun. Protect from harsh afternoon sun, particularly during the hotter Australian months.

Watering

Allow the top layer of the potting mix to dry slightly before watering again. Water a little less during winter once flowering has finished, but do not allow the plant to remain dry for extended periods.

Soil

Use a free-draining premium potting mix suitable for epiphytic cacti or indoor plants. Good drainage helps reduce the risk of root problems.

Temperature

Prefers mild temperatures and should be protected from frost. A sheltered patio or bright indoor position suits it well in most parts of Australia.

Fertiliser

Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser during the active growing season in spring and summer. Reduce feeding while the plant is flowering or resting.

Good to know

Zygo Cactus Livia is grown for its impressive seasonal flowers and compact growth habit. Like other Schlumbergera cultivars, it performs best with consistent care and benefits from cooler nights and shorter days to encourage flowering. Avoid moving the plant once flower buds have formed, as sudden changes in light or temperature may cause buds to drop.
