Sansevieria, commonly called Snake Plant or Mother-in-Law's Tongue, is a popular and resilient houseplant known for its striking upright leaves and air-purifying qualities. Native to Africa and Asia, this succulent has become a favorite among plant enthusiasts due to its ease of care and adaptability to various indoor environments.

Appearance:

• Leaves: Sansevieria boasts stiff, upright leaves that can grow several feet tall. The leaves are typically sword-shaped or cylindrical, and they come in a variety of colors and patterns, including dark green, variegated, and even yellow.

• Flowers: Although rare, Sansevieria can produce fragrant, greenish-white flowers on tall stalks.

• Size: Varies depending on the variety, but most Sansevierias can grow anywhere from a few inches to several feet tall.

Care Requirements:

• Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light but can tolerate low light conditions. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

• Water: Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering is a common cause of death for Sansevierias.

• Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix.

• Temperature: Prefers warm temperatures between 60-80°F (15-27°C) but can tolerate cooler temperatures.

• Fertilizer: Fertilize occasionally during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength.

• It's a great choice for beginners due to its low maintenance needs and tolerance to neglect.
