Parodia Alba

Parodia albiseta is also known as the Baja Elephant Tree or Copalquín. This unique plant is a true conversation starter, boasting a distinctive, swollen trunk (caudex) that resembles an elephant's foot, topped with a crown of delicate, aromatic leaves.  

Here are some of its key features:

• Unique Caudex: The most striking feature of this plant is its swollen, bulbous base, which serves as a water reservoir, allowing it to thrive in arid environments. The bark is smooth and ranges in color from reddish-brown in younger plants to a light gray in mature specimens.

• Delicate Foliage: The leaves are pinnately compound, with 3 to 15 leaflets, each with a slightly scalloped margin. They are a vibrant green when new, maturing to a deeper shade, and emit a pleasant, aromatic scent when crushed.  

• Seasonal Interest: In the fall, the leaves turn a beautiful golden yellow before dropping, revealing the sculptural beauty of the trunk and branches.

• Drought-Tolerant: As a desert native, Pachycormus discolor is incredibly drought-tolerant, requiring minimal watering once established.

• Low-Maintenance: This resilient succulent is easy to care for, making it a perfect choice for both beginner and experienced gardeners.
