Bring lush tropical style indoors with Monstera deliciosa, one of the most popular and recognisable indoor plants in Australia. Loved for its glossy green foliage, this tropical favourite develops the characteristic splits and holes in its leaves as it matures under suitable growing conditions.

Supplied in a 100mm pot, this young Monstera is an excellent size for desks, shelves, plant stands and smaller indoor spaces. As it grows, it can become an impressive statement plant and benefits from a support such as a moss pole.

Monstera deliciosa is relatively easy to care for and performs best in bright, indirect light with a well-draining potting mix. Its attractive foliage and adaptable nature make it an excellent choice for both new and experienced indoor plant growers.

Care Guide

☀️ Light

Position in bright, indirect light for healthy growth. Avoid prolonged harsh afternoon sun, which may scorch the foliage. It can tolerate lower light, although growth may be slower.

💧 Watering

Water when the upper few centimetres of the potting mix have dried. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain freely. Avoid leaving the plant sitting in water.

🌱 Soil

Use a well-draining indoor plant potting mix. Adding materials such as perlite, orchid bark or coco chips can help improve aeration and drainage.

🌡️ Temperature

Monstera deliciosa prefers warm conditions. Protect it from frost, cold draughts and sudden temperature changes.

💦 Humidity

Moderate to higher humidity encourages healthy tropical foliage, although Monstera deliciosa generally adapts well to normal household conditions.

🌿 Feeding

Apply a balanced indoor plant fertiliser during active growth, following the fertiliser manufacturer's recommended rate.

Good to Know

Young Monstera deliciosa plants may initially have solid, heart-shaped leaves. The famous splits and holes generally become more prominent as the plant matures and receives suitable light, nutrition and growing conditions.

A climbing support can also encourage larger, more mature foliage over time.

Please note: Plant appearance, size, leaf shape and colour may vary naturally from the product photographs. Each plant is unique.

FAQs

Why doesn't my young Monstera have split leaves?

Juvenile Monstera plants commonly produce solid leaves. Fenestrations usually develop as the plant matures under favourable growing conditions.

Is Monstera deliciosa suitable for beginners?

Yes. It is generally considered an approachable tropical houseplant when provided with suitable light, drainage and watering.

Can I grow it indoors?

Yes. Monstera deliciosa is an excellent indoor plant and performs particularly well near a bright window with filtered or indirect light.

Does it need a moss pole?

It isn't essential for a young plant, but Monstera deliciosa is naturally a climbing species. Providing support as it grows can help encourage upright growth and larger foliage.
