Kalanchoe beharensis ‘Monstrose’ is a striking variation of the popular Velvet Elephant Ear succulent. This monstrose form features thick, triangular leaves covered with soft, dense, silvery-grey hairs that give the plant a velvety texture. Unlike the typical species, the ‘Monstrose’ has irregular, contorted, and deeply lobed leaves that create a unique, almost sculptural appearance — a real standout for collectors and succulent enthusiasts.

Key Characteristics:

  • Botanical name: Kalanchoe beharensis ‘Monstrose’

  • Foliage: Thick, triangular, velvety grey-green leaves with irregular, lobed, and twisted growth

  • Growth habit: Upright, bushy shrub-like succulent

  • Size: Can grow up to 1.5 metres tall and wide in ideal conditions

  • Origin: Native to Madagascar

  • Texture: Soft, fuzzy leaves that contrast beautifully with rough stems

Care Tips:

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect sunlight. Can tolerate some direct sun but avoid intense midday rays to prevent leaf burn.

  • Watering: Water moderately, allowing the top 2–3 cm of soil to dry out between waterings. Reduce watering in winter.

  • Soil: Use a well-draining succulent or cactus mix to prevent root rot.

  • Temperature: Prefers warm temperatures; protect from frost and cold drafts. Ideal range: 15–28°C.

  • Feeding: Fertilise monthly during the growing season with a balanced succulent fertilizer diluted to half strength.

  • Pruning: Remove any damaged or leggy growth to maintain shape and encourage bushiness.

The succulent plant housed in the red pot comes in a 130mm diameter container. While the image provides a representative depiction of what you will receive, but may vary slightly because no two succulents are the same. The plant will be shipped bare rooted
