Hoya Australis is a beautiful climbing and trailing tropical plant admired for its thick, glossy green leaves and elegant vining growth. As it matures, it can produce clusters of star-shaped, waxy flowers with a sweet fragrance, making it a rewarding choice for indoor plant lovers and Hoya collectors.

Its flexible vines can be trained around a support or allowed to trail from shelves and hanging displays. Hoya Australis performs best in bright, indirect light with good airflow and a well-draining growing medium.

Care Guide

Light
Provide bright, indirect light for strong growth and best flowering potential. Gentle morning sun can be beneficial, but avoid harsh afternoon sunlight that may scorch the leaves.

Watering
Allow the upper layer of the potting mix to dry slightly before watering again. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain freely. Avoid keeping the roots constantly wet.

Soil
Use a well-draining, airy potting mix suitable for Hoyas or other epiphytic plants. A mix containing bark, perlite and quality potting medium can help provide good root aeration.

Temperature
Hoya australis prefers warm, stable conditions. Protect it from frost, cold draughts and sudden temperature changes.

Humidity
Moderate humidity supports healthy growth, although good air circulation is also important.

Feeding
Apply a balanced indoor plant or Hoya fertiliser during periods of active growth according to the product instructions.

Good to Know

Hoya Australis can be trained around a hoop or trellis as its vines lengthen, or allowed to trail naturally. Avoid removing old flower spurs after blooming, as Hoyas can produce flowers again from the same points.

Flowering is not guaranteed at dispatch. Blooming depends on plant maturity, light, temperature and growing conditions.
