Echeveria Rubor is a compact rosette succulent with soft green leaves that blush red in bright light. Also known simply as Rubor Echeveria, this easy-care succulent comes in a 130mm pot and suits sunny windowsills or bright patios.

It forms neat, symmetrical rosettes with slightly pointed leaves that can blush deeper red during cooler months or when exposed to strong light. The colour shift makes it a popular choice for mixed succulent arrangements or as a standalone feature plant. Like most echeverias, it remains relatively compact, making it suitable for small indoor spaces.

Echeveria Rubor is generally considered beginner-friendly when placed in the right conditions, particularly with strong natural light and well-draining soil.

Care Guide

Light

Prefers bright light with several hours of indirect sun. A north or east-facing window indoors works well in most Australian homes. Gradually acclimate to direct sun to avoid leaf burn.

Watering

Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Reduce watering in winter. Avoid water sitting in the centre of the rosette as this can cause rot.

Soil

Use a free draining cactus and succulent mix. Good drainage is essential to prevent root issues.

Temperature

Best suited to mild to warm conditions. Protect from frost, especially in cooler southern regions of Australia.

Feeding

A diluted liquid fertiliser during active growth in spring and summer can support healthy colour and growth. Do not overfeed.

Good to Know

  • Colour intensity improves with strong light exposure.

  • May produce offsets over time, forming small clusters.

  • Not suited to prolonged wet conditions.

  • Ideal for decorative pots with drainage holes.
