Pincushion Cactus Nivosa

Add a touch of desert charm to your collection with the Pincushion Cactus, a delightful, compact cactus native to the Caribbean. Its globe-shaped body is covered in white, woolly areoles and sharp golden-yellow spines, giving it the look of a soft pincushion—though it’s far from cuddly! In spring and summer, it rewards growers with a beautiful crown of bright, funnel-shaped flowers.

Special Characteristics:

• Compact & Charming: Small, rounded form perfect for pots and windowsills.

• Attractive Spines: Dense golden-yellow spines with white woolly tufts.

• Seasonal Flowers: Produces a ring of vivid yellow blooms, sometimes followed by red seed pods.

• Low Maintenance: Requires minimal water and care.

Growth Habit:

• Typically grows up to 15 cm tall and 8–10 cm wide.

• Solitary when young; may form small clusters with age.

Care Tips:

• Light: Full sun to bright, indirect light.

• Water: Water deeply but infrequently; allow soil to dry completely between waterings.

• Soil: Use a free-draining cactus mix.

• Temperature: Prefers warmth; protect from frost.

• Fertiliser: Light cactus fertiliser in spring and summer.
