Agave Pixie Rose

Agave is a genus of monocotyledonous plants, meaning they are flowering plants that typically have one seed leaf. They are native to arid and semi-arid regions of the Americas, particularly Mexico and the southwestern United States.  

Key Characteristics:

• Rosette Form: Agaves are easily recognizable by their rosette growth pattern, where their leaves radiate out from a central point.  

• Fleshy Leaves: They have thick, fleshy leaves that store water, a key adaptation to dry climates.  

• Spiny Margins: Many Agave species have sharp teeth or spines along the edges of their leaves, and a sharp point at the tip.  

• Monocarpic: A notable feature is that Agaves are monocarpic, meaning they flower only once in their lifetime. After flowering, the main rosette dies, but often produces offsets or "pups" that continue to grow.  

• Flower Stalk: When they do flower, they produce a very tall flower stalk.
