Agave 'Dorado' – A Golden Showstopper for Your Garden!

Brighten your succulent collection with the radiant Agave 'Dorado'! This striking agave features broad, fleshy, grey-green leaves with a prominent, vibrant golden-yellow central stripe. Its bold variegation and architectural form make it a stunning focal point in any sunny garden or container.   

Characteristics:

• Golden Central Stripe: Each grey-green leaf is boldly marked with a bright golden-yellow stripe down the center.
• Broad, Fleshy Leaves: The leaves are thick, substantial, and have sharp terminal spines.  
• Rosette Shape: Forms a symmetrical and impressive rosette.   
• Moderate Size: Typically grows to a manageable size for landscape use and large containers.
• Drought Tolerant: Highly water-wise and well-suited for arid and semi-arid climates.

Care Tips:

• Full Sun: Thrives in full sun, which enhances the vibrancy of the golden stripe.
• Well-Draining Soil: Requires fast-draining soil to prevent root rot. Amend garden soil with sand or perlite, or use a cactus/succulent mix in containers.   
• Water Sparingly: Water deeply but infrequently, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Reduce watering significantly during the cooler, dormant months.   
• Heat Tolerant: Well-adapted to hot and dry conditions.
• Frost Sensitive: Protect from prolonged freezing temperatures. Move potted plants indoors or provide cover in frost-prone areas.
• Handle with Caution: The terminal spines and leaf margins can be sharp; wear gloves when handling.
