Pachypodium Lamerei

Pachypodium lamerei, commonly known as the Madagascar Palm, is a striking succulent that brings the look of a tropical palm with the hardiness of a cactus. Despite its name, it's not a true palm but a thick-stemmed succulent tree with a spiny trunk and long, narrow leaves clustered at the top.

This dramatic plant makes a bold statement in sunny spaces and is well-loved for its architectural form and drought tolerance.

Features:

• Tall, Spiny Trunk: Covered in sharp spines that protect water-storing tissues.
• Tropical-Looking Foliage: Long, glossy green leaves grow in a crown-like cluster at the top.
• Slow Growing: Can reach 1–2 metres in height indoors or more in ideal outdoor conditions.
• Seasonal Flowers: In warm climates, mature plants may produce large, fragrant white flowers.
• Indoor or Outdoor: Excellent as a feature plant in pots or garden beds (in frost-free zones).

Care Tips:

• Light: Needs full sun to thrive. Place in the brightest spot available.
• Watering: Water deeply when soil is dry. Reduce watering in winter.
• Soil: Well-draining cactus or succulent mix is essential. Avoid waterlogging.
• Temperature: Keep above 10°C. Sensitive to frost; bring indoors during cold months.
• Handling: Be cautious of the sharp spines when repotting or moving.
