Haworthia cymbiformis 'Variegated' is a compact and slow-growing succulent known for its soft, boat-shaped leaves marked with creamy white to yellow variegation. The translucent leaf tips and gentle coloration give it a delicate, ornamental appearance. Unlike more rigid succulents, its fleshy leaves are slightly rounded and grow in rosettes, often forming attractive clusters over time.
This variety is ideal for small pots, terrariums, and windowsill displays where soft light enhances its subtle variegation. It’s a popular choice for collectors due to its elegant form and slow, tidy growth.
Main Characteristics:
- Rosette-forming with plump, boat-shaped (cymbiform) leaves
- Distinctive creamy to yellow variegation along leaf margins or in stripes
- Translucent windows at leaf tips help with photosynthesis
- Typically grows up to 8–12 cm in diameter and height
- May produce slender flower stalks with small, tubular white flowers
Care Instructions:
- Light: Prefers bright, indirect light or filtered sun. Too much direct sunlight can scorch the variegated leaves
- Water: Water deeply but infrequently; allow soil to dry out completely between waterings
- Soil: Use well-draining succulent or cactus mix with added grit or perlite
- Temperature: Protect from frost. Best kept above 5°C; suitable for indoor growing year-round
- Maintenance: Minimal; remove dead leaves at the base to maintain a clean rosette
- Propagation: Can be propagated from offsets that grow around the base of the main plant
