Crassula ovata ‘Hobbit’ is a quirky and compact cultivar of the classic Jade Plant, known for its uniquely curled, tubular leaves that resemble fingers or tiny trumpets. With its upright, branching form and deep green foliage tinged with red edges under bright light, ‘Hobbit’ makes an eye-catching addition to any succulent collection or indoor garden.
Main Features:
- Tubular, spoon-shaped leaves that curve inward – a fun twist on the traditional jade plant
- Compact and slow-growing with a bonsai-like structure over time
- Leaf tips can blush red with sun exposure
- Drought-tolerant and long-lived, ideal for pots and containers
- Can be trained as a miniature tree or used in themed arrangements (e.g., “Hobbit garden” or fairy garden)
Care Tips:
- Light: Prefers bright, indirect sunlight or partial sun. Full sun will enhance the red tips.
- Water: Water thoroughly when the soil is completely dry. Overwatering is the most common cause of problems.
- Soil: Use a well-draining cactus or succulent mix.
- Temperature: Thrives in warm conditions and must be protected from frost.
- Fertilizer: Feed once a month during the growing season (spring–summer) with diluted succulent fertilizer.
- Propagation: Easy to propagate from stem or leaf cuttings.
The Last two photos serves a display purpose only. The succulent plant housed in the red pot comes in a 130mm diameter container. While the image provides a representative depiction of what you will receive, but may vary slightly because no two succulents are the same.
