Coryphantha elephantidens, commonly known as the Elephant’s Tooth Cactus, is a distinctive and sculptural succulent native to the dry highlands of Mexico. Its bold, rounded form and pronounced tubercles give it a unique texture reminiscent of elephant teeth—earning it its memorable name.
This cactus features a large, depressed-globular body that often grows in clusters, creating a dense, eye-catching display. Each prominent tubercle is tipped with a rosette of short, curved spines in hues ranging from pale yellow to reddish-brown, beautifully contrasting with its cool blue-green skin. During spring and summer, mature specimens reward growers with funnel-shaped blooms in shades of soft pink, and occasionally yellow or white—adding a vibrant accent to its rugged form.
