Agave filifera, commonly known as Thread Agave, is a striking evergreen succulent renowned for its graceful rosette of arching, lance-shaped leaves edged with delicate, filamentous threads. Originating from the highlands of central Mexico, this compact species brings architectural elegance to rock gardens, containers, and xeric landscapes.

Main Features:

  • Rosette Form: Tight, symmetrical rosette reaching 30–50 cm in diameter

  • Leaf Texture: Glossy, dark green leaves with fine, curling white filaments along the margins

  • Size: Mature plants typically grow 30–60 cm tall and wide, making them suitable for both small and large displays

  • Offsets: Produces basal pups that can be separated for propagation

  • Cold Tolerance: Withstands brief dips to around –5 °C when kept dry

Care Tips:

  • Light: Provide full sun to very bright light. A few hours of morning sun will deepen leaf color without risking scorch.

  • Watering: Water thoroughly but infrequently. Allow the soil to dry completely between waterings; reduce to minimal moisture in winter.

  • Soil: Plant in a very well-draining mix—combine cactus soil with coarse sand or gravel to prevent water retention.

  • Temperature: Performs best in warm conditions (15–30 °C). Protect from prolonged frost and cold, damp weather.

  • Fertilisation: Feed sparingly during the growing season with a low-nitrogen, balanced succulent fertilizer (once in spring is sufficient).

  • Propagation: Divide and replant offsets in spring or summer. Let cut surfaces callous for 24 hours before planting.

The first photos serves a display purpose only. The succulent plant housed in the red pot comes in a 130mm diameter container. While the image provides a representative depiction of what you will receive, but may vary slightly because no two succulents are the same. The plants will be shipped as bare rooted.
