The Pilea Peperomioides, commonly known as the Chinese Money Plant, is a charming and unique houseplant known for its round, coin-shaped leaves and upright growth habit. Its architectural appeal and easy-care nature have made it a favourite among plant enthusiasts and interior decorators alike.

Characteristics:

  • Foliage: Glossy, pancake-like leaves grow on long, slender petioles, giving the plant a sculptural look. Leaves are typically bright green and can range from small to palm-sized depending on age and conditions.
  • Size: Typically grows up to 30 cm tall and wide, making it ideal for tabletops, shelves, or small pots.
  • Growth Habit: Compact and upright, with a tendency to produce offshoots (pups) at the base.
  • Origin: Native to the Yunnan province of China.

Care Guide:

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves. It can tolerate lower light but will grow more slowly.
  • Watering: Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Do not let the plant sit in water as it is prone to root rot. Reduce watering in cooler months.
  • Humidity: Tolerates average indoor humidity. Can benefit from occasional misting, especially in drier climates.
  • Temperature: Thrives in temperatures between 15°C and 24°C. Protect from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.
  • Soil: Well-draining potting mix, ideally with a blend of peat, perlite, and compost.
  • Fertiliser: Feed monthly in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser diluted to half strength.
  • Propagation: Easily propagated through offsets. Gently separate pups from the mother plant and replant in moist soil.

This Plant comes in a 140mm diameter container and the plant you see is the plant you get. The plant will be shipped bare rooted
