Delonix decaryi is a rare and visually striking tree native to Madagascar, known for its thickened, bottle-shaped trunk and fine, feathery foliage. It belongs to the legume family and is closely related to the flamboyant Delonix regia, but with a more compact growth habit and a unique caudiciform (swollen base), making it popular among collectors of unusual trees and bonsai enthusiasts.
In ideal conditions, Delonix decaryi may produce clusters of pale yellow to cream flowers, though it is most admired for its sculptural form and drought tolerance. It is well-suited to warm, dry climates and can be grown in containers or as a specimen plant in well-drained soil.
Care Tips:
- Light: Full sun is essential for healthy growth.
- Water: Water moderately during the growing season and reduce watering in winter.
- Soil: Requires well-draining, gritty soil. Avoid overwatering.
- Temperature: Prefers warm climates; protect from frost.
- Growth Habit: Slow-growing; forms a swollen base with fine foliage above.
The succulent plant housed in the red pot comes in a 190mm diameter container. While the image provides a representative depiction of what you will receive, but may vary slightly because no two succulents are the same.
