Senecio haworthii, commonly known as Woolly Senecio or Cocoon Plant, is a striking succulent characterized by its thick, cylindrical leaves covered in dense, white, wool-like hairs. This soft, fuzzy texture gives the plant a unique silvery appearance, making it a beautiful addition to any succulent collection or garden.
Key Features:
-
Distinctive silvery-white, woolly foliage
-
Compact, upright growth habit reaching about 20-30 cm (8-12 inches) tall
-
Low-maintenance and drought-tolerant
-
Adds unique texture and contrast to succulent arrangements
Care Tips:
-
Light: Prefers bright, indirect sunlight; can tolerate some direct sun but avoid harsh midday rays to prevent leaf burn.
-
Watering: Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between watering; reduce watering during winter dormancy.
-
Soil: Use well-draining cactus or succulent mix to prevent root rot.
-
Temperature: Thrives in warm temperatures; protect from frost and temperatures below 5°C (41°F).
-
Fertilizer: Feed lightly during the growing season with a balanced succulent fertilizer diluted to half strength.
-
Propagation: Easily propagated from leaf or stem cuttings.
