Zygocactus ‘Freya’, also known as Schlumbergera or Christmas Cactus, is a striking epiphytic cactus admired for its vibrant blooms and easy-care nature. ‘Freya’ produces dazzling magenta-pink flowers with elegant petals that bloom in abundance, typically during late autumn to early winter.
This compact, cascading plant is perfect for hanging baskets or decorative pots, adding a splash of colour to indoor spaces when most other plants are dormant.
Characteristics:
- Brilliant magenta-pink flowers with soft, scalloped petals
- Flat, segmented stems with a slightly trailing habit
- Blooms during cooler months, often around the holiday season
- Ideal for bright indoor spots or sheltered patios
Care Instructions:
- Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid direct afternoon sun which may scorch the leaves.
- Watering: Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry. Reduce watering slightly during the cooler months.
- Humidity: Enjoys a bit more humidity than typical cacti. Occasional misting or placement near a humidifier can help.
- Temperature: Thrives in temperatures between 15°C and 24°C. Protect from frost.
- Soil: Use a well-draining succulent or cactus mix. Avoid heavy soils that retain too much moisture.
- Feeding: Apply a balanced, diluted fertiliser every 4–6 weeks during the growing season (spring to early autumn).
The succulent plant housed in the red pot comes in a 130mm diameter container. While the image provides a representative depiction of what you will receive, but may vary slightly because no two succulents are the same.
