Pincushion cactus is a small, spherical cactus plant belonging to the Mammillaria genus of the Cactaceae family. It is native to Mexico and is also known as bird's nest cactus, because of its compact, globe-like shape.

The plant features small, tubercled, and spiny stems that grow in a symmetrical pattern to form a rounded, ball-like shape that can reach up to 6 inches in diameter. The stems are typically green, but may have a reddish or yellowish hue. The cactus produces small, white, yellow, or pink flowers in spring or early summer, which grow from the top of the plant and are followed by small, reddish fruits.

Pincushion cactus is a relatively easy plant to care for and is well-suited to growing in containers or as part of a cactus garden. It prefers well-draining soil, full sunlight, and minimal watering. The plant is quite hardy and can tolerate both high and low temperatures, but it is sensitive to frost and should be protected in colder climates.
