Cereus monstrose typically has green or bluish-green stems, and the branches are usually ribbed or ridged. It produces small spines along the ridges, which can vary in color from light to dark brown. The spines are generally short and not as sharp or prominent as those of other cactus species.

Cultivating Cereus monstrose is similar to caring for other cactus species. It thrives in well-draining soil and requires plenty of sunlight.In regions with colder temperatures, it can be grown indoors or in containers that can be moved indoors during winter.
