Jatropha podagrica, commonly known as the Buddha’s Belly Plant or Gout Plant, is a distinctive and intriguing succulent belonging to the Euphorbiaceae family. Native to Central and South America.The leaves are usually bright green and can vary in size, with three to seven lobes radiating from a central point.

Jatropha podagrica produces clusters of bright scarlet-red flowers that are visually striking against the green foliage.This succulent generally has a shrubby growth habit, reaching a height of about 3 to 6 feet (1 to 2 meters) under optimal conditions.

Jatropha podagrica thrives in warm and tropical climates, requiring plenty of sunlight to promote healthy growth and flowering. It prefers well-draining soil and can tolerate periods of drought once established.Due to its unusual stem and distinctive foliage, Jatropha podagrica is often used as an ornamental accent plant in gardens, landscapes, and containers.
