The stem of Coryphantha elephantidens is globular to cylindrical, typically solitary or clustering slowly over time.The tubercles on the ribs are prominent, somewhat pyramidal, and arranged in spirals along the ribs.They are borne from the areoles near the apex of the stem and are usually yellow, though variations in color may occur.

Coryphantha elephantidens prefers well-draining soil and full sunlight. It is adapted to arid conditions.This cactus is often grown in containers as part of a collection of succulent plants or in desert-themed gardens.
