Plectranthus caninus, also known as Dogsbane or the Scaredy Cat Plant, is a hardy, aromatic perennial valued not only for its ornamental appeal but also for its natural ability to deter cats, dogs, and even possums. When touched or brushed, it releases a strong scent that is unpleasant to many animals but harmless.

With soft, grey-green foliage and a compact, spreading habit, it’s perfect for borders, garden edges, or pot planting near areas you’d like to keep pet-free. It also produces delicate pale blue to lavender flowers in warmer months.
