Echeveria 'Prolifera', also known as the Mother of Thousands or Hen and Chicks, is a charming succulent native to Mexico. This unique plant is beloved for its prolific offsets, forming dense clusters of rosettes that resemble a mother hen surrounded by her chicks.
Appearance:
Leaves: Small, plump, and tightly packed leaves form individual rosettes. The leaves are typically a pale green to bluish-green color, often with a delicate pink or reddish blush at the tips, especially when exposed to ample sunlight.
Size: Each individual rosette is relatively small, typically growing to about 2-3 inches in diameter. However, the plant as a whole can spread significantly as it produces numerous offsets, creating a sprawling mat of rosettes.
Growth Habits and Care:
Sunlight: Thrives in bright, indirect light or partial shade. Ample sunlight exposure helps to intensify the pink coloration of the leaves.
Soil: Requires well-draining soil, such as a cactus or succulent mix.
Watering: Water thoroughly when the soil is dry, allowing it to dry out completely between waterings. Reduce watering in winter.
Additional Information:
