Cyphostemma juttae is a striking succulent shrub native to southern Africa, admired for its dramatic form, thick swollen trunk (caudex), and bold, fleshy leaves. Commonly known as the Wild Grape Tree or Tree Grape, this slow-growing plant develops a sculptural silhouette, making it a standout feature in succulent collections, rock gardens, or arid landscapes.
In warmer months, it produces large, glossy, bright green leaves that resemble grape leaves, which are shed in winter when the plant goes dormant. Mature specimens may also bear ornamental clusters of red berries, adding to their exotic appeal.
Key Features:
-
Impressive caudiciform succulent with thickened trunk
-
Large, fleshy, grape-like leaves
-
Deciduous in winter, with strong architectural presence year-round
-
Drought-tolerant and heat-loving
-
Suitable for pots, bonsai training, or dry gardens
Care Tips:
Prefers full sun and well-draining soil. Water deeply during the growing season and reduce watering in winter when the plant is dormant. Protect from frost and excessive moisture. Best suited to collectors or experienced growers due to its unique growth cycle.
The succulent plant housed in the red pot comes in a 190mm diameter container. While the image provides a representative depiction of what you will receive, but may vary slightly because no two succulents are the same.
